Tiny Bits

Athens, Georgia

Finishing up the gear clean-out, repair and repack, had to replace a couple of eyecups on the R7s. Very small screws abound.

Found directions on the recycling can today. After a decade of use, nice to know I was doing it right, I suppose.

Disposition

Athens, Georgia

The city and university have decided to close some of the crosswalks on campus, pushing pedestrians to larger ones at turn signals. This curb cut was town out and patched up.

Yesterday, I had my car in for service and one of the things they noted was the need to replace the cabin air filter (which they sent a photo of, complete with acorn shells and other debris). I declined as it’s a five minute job and a $20 part.

When I went to do it today, I found this – they left the debris on the filter and put it back in the car. A rare misstep by Heyward Allen Toyota, who have generally been a great shop.

Some Assembly Required

Cleaning crews continue to work on campus, on campus the recycling machine is full and, down the road, I’m reminded of the old John Gorka song, “Houses in the Fields.”

They’re growing houses in the fields between the towns
And the Starlight drive-in movie is all closed down
The road is gone to the way it was before
And the spaces won’t be spaces anymore
No, the spaces won’t be spaces anymore
