Had the doc students breaking down stories in groups, then writing elevator pitches for them. Everyone is cold this week.

Clean Up
We ended up with about a half inch of ice on horizontal surfaces, but nothing that really stuck to the trees. No damage, power only flickered once Sunday night. Campus closed for the day and will delay opening on Tuesday, too.
Our area dodged a bullet.
First Wave
We had a little sleet, then a little freezing rain overnight. A lull midday and then expected to pick up again into the evening. As of noon, power is still on. I’m making jokes about when we get to gorge on storm snacks.
Home Prep
The storm is set to start this evening. We’ve done as much prep as we can – devices are charged, we have power adapters for the tools, a solar generator, cars are away from tree branches. We will spend most of our time on the first floor, so I hung towels across second floor windows to keep some heat in.
Ice Cometh
We’ve been warned. There’s a major storm heading towards us this weekend, predictions of anywhere from 0.5 to 2.0 inches of ice – the phrases history, destructive and catastrophic have been used by people I respect.
The local Lowe’s got a truckload of generators in and, this morning, there was a line of vehicles around the building, receipts in hand, waiting to pick theirs up. They had a crew out to load with another employee explaining operation to the next customer in line. Inside, they had a table at the door, asking as you came in if you were there to get a generator.
Well organized and efficient, nice to see them making sure folks could get what they need.
Later that night, did the weekly taco run … now, we wait.
