I spend a lot of time sitting in press centers and shuffling between locations, making sure the students have what they need. Hustling to the Eiffel Tower venue, I hopped off the subway a little early and walked a bit, trying to absorb a little more of Paris in our last few days here.
One of my heroes, Henri Cartier-Bresson, covered Paris extensively in the mid-20th century. Today, maybe, I got close to his ideals of composition and decisive moment. Close, but not quite there, alas.

I never got to photograph an Olympic Games or a Paralympic Games while working as a photojournalist (though I did do some trials), I’m trying to squeeze in a bit here and there between coaching and editing.

Headed out to the Esplanade des Invalides for archery with some of the students. Timing the release is virtually impossible in a single frame, but the gear loaned to the kids by Canon allowed them to go into the electronic shutter mode and do 30 or more frames per second – lean on the button and hope they release before you fill the buffer.
