They’ve been working on rebuilding the patio in front of the college for a few weeks, new cobblestones and granite benches. The side effect was tearing up the lawn, which was resodded on the same day the storm was to hit and the university closed early.
There are warnings for the weekend. Freezing rain, ice, maybe snow … anything from fog to six inches of snow. So, of course, we run short of milk and juice.
We start up again tomorrow, break is over and the spring semester is about to start. Too soon, not soon enough … I just don’t know anymore which it is.

A few years ago, my wife started this project of creating a vision board at the start of each year. She pages through magazines, grabbing phrases and images and ideas, collages them together and mounts it in her office. Just above her computer, it sits there as a reminder of where she hopes the year goes.
I don’t do it, but it’s fascinating to me, to see how they have changed over the last few years.
