Out on the backroads, there are a lot of abandoned structures. Some are lost to time, some maybe not. This, with some work, could be a nice little retreat for someone.
Celebrations
Late in the afternoon, the leadership team for the college gathered for a little celebration. They’ve cleared the accreditation hurdle and announced some promotions.
Students, Alone and En Masse
One by one, hundreds by hundreds, as the classes change.
Moving Out
We’re getting ready to demolish much of the front office space (the dean’s suites), so everything is coming off the walls and heading to storage.
Seventy and Sold Out
Still too warm here to really need firewood.
Evening Fronds
That evening light in fall … gotta do something with it.
Scouting, Again
Another morning on the backroads, the route is done and I’m pretty happy with it. A lot more work still to be done.
As I wandered past history and derelict buildings, my mind wandered to why we preserve some things and not others. How does one decide to build a wood structure that will last 132 years, or a cinder block one that won’t make it to 50?
