Oglethorpe County High School had their home opener so I headed out with a handful of students so they can experience Friday night under the rural county lights.

I am not a big football fan, but it’s a crucial skill to learn. One, because they’ll do it for their entire careers – weekly, daily, metro or wire, they’ll cover football. Two, because if you can do this well, you can cover almost anything else well.

Sports intensifies everything – timing, composition, technical challenges, community interaction, situational awareness, whimsy, light and passion.

When the chief business officer walks into your office and says the remote facility is flooding, off you go. A poorly thought out high pressure connection snapped in a control room, reportedly there was six feet of water being held in place by one strong door.
