One of my minor complaints about our house is the lack of light. It’s a big, old house with not a lot of windows, so it feels dark to me. So when a sliver of light slips through the kitchen, past the dining room and into the short hall … well, you don’t walk past it.
Work Problem
It was past 5 p.m. on a Friday during the summer at a university … why was I still there?
Utensils
Sometimes, I just start emptying containers to clean them, dumping wooden spoons and spatulas everywhere.
Hope
The hope that a little sheet metal stuck in the ground would slow the spread of bamboo is just charming. Very, very charming.
Concrete and Steel
Yes, that’s a pack of Pall Mall’s stuck into the concrete. No idea why, but visiting the big city brings interesting views.
Love Will Win
It’s on the sign, just to the right of the watermelons. And when you have melons, onion rolls and BBQ, the odds are in your favor.
Chopped
Sometimes, I forget to trim the shrubs … for a few years. And then it gets ugly.
