I called my brother this morning, spent an hour catching up. At the end, I asked what his plans were. Siblings were coming over with all the nieces, pizza planned to celebrate a bit.

That sounded great, I said, as I wished him a happy 50th birthday. Got off the phone, kissed the Mrs., drove to the airport and flew up to join them. He had no idea.
