Not much celebrating, but I did clock some quality time staring at the sky.

The last items came out of the closet and into my bags early this morning, day 24 since I left Athens.
At the airport, folks were working and watching matches, carrying giant poster heads home and waiting to take off.
The students did phenomenally well – we’ve already been asked if we’ll work on the Women’s World Cup in Brazil next year – but I am done. This journey has been oddly isolating, surrounded by people I could not connect with in meaningful ways. Glimpses of experiences.
I am ready to be home again.

Touristing
On my last day in Mexico, I decided to play tourist and booked an incredibly cheesy excursion – a group tour out to Garcia where we’d take a cable car ride up a mountain and then be lead through a cavern, then on to the historic downtown area and back.
Except, I was the only one in the group. Still, it was wonderful.

Final Whistle

We boarded the shuttle in the afternoon for our last ride to the stadium, a little wistful, perhaps.
We were there early enough another match was on the monitors with some big reactions from our AP colleague. Mid-match, there was some sort of emergency and paramedics came charging through the media center, all sorts of chaos.
