Archery

Paris, France

Headed out to the Esplanade des Invalides for archery with some of the students. Timing the release is virtually impossible in a single frame, but the gear loaned to the kids by Canon allowed them to go into the electronic shutter mode and do 30 or more frames per second – lean on the button and hope they release before you fill the buffer.

Light Meals and Office Views

Some more running around, getting the students ready for the opening ceremonies. They were dispatched around the venue and I headed to the Associated Press bureau to edit.

Chaos ensued, however, as the students’ cameras were set right for transmitting, a lot of texting instructions to get it all to work. Better tonight than tomorrow.

Training and Touristing

Paris, France

Associated Press photojournalist Emilio Morenatti spent some time with the kids today, talking about his approach to covering the Paralympic Games. In the evening, we did our last touristy thing, heading up to the top of the Eiffel Tower for a nighttime view of the city.
