Ready, Just In Case

We’re a few days away from the university’s commencement ceremony where many of us will don rented academic regalia and march around, looking like medieval wizards. It’s kind of awesome.

The company the university uses to rentals has, three out of the last four years, gotten my hood colors wrong so I just went ahead and ordered my own from Syracuse University.

Last Times, Late Nights

I’ve served as a non-voting member of the Red and Black’s board of directors for two years. Today, the chairman who asked me to serve finished up his term. Thanks for asking, Mr. Sears.

In the evening, we had our annual prom … err, gala. On the way back across campus, students were still studying away, late into a Friday night.

Convocating

Due to the oddities of the university’s calendar, we finished classes on Wednesday, had the college’s convocation on Thursday, then start exams on Friday and commencement is a week away.

It’s a long story.

I was asked to read the names of the Journalism graduates again, it’s a little terrifying but hugely satisfying – knowing what that have gone through to get to this point, imagining what comes next.

Our biggest fear is getting someone’s name wrong so we hang out back stage and practice a bit.
