Opening day, start of my sixteenth year and it has never been this quiet. Faculty are finding ways to hold outdoor meetings, too.


We stopped at the local car hop on the way home from an errand, just as storms swirled in. Took a while for them to take the order and, after 20 minutes of waiting, a server wandered out to another car, unmasked and unhurried.
We wandered home, saving cash and calories.

We start a new semester in two days, so campus preparations are in full swing. Except for Legion Pool, closed and drained as the site is being used for COVID screenings.


Somebody asked for takeout from one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, where the margaritas are quite good. None to-go, though.
