Lights Out

Athens, Georgia

This seemed an appropriate way to end year 11 of my one-year project – an unfinished room, technology stacked in a corner and a missing crew.

It’s been a year. This is the third construction project I’ve overseen and the only one I suspect will finish on schedule. (Another is now six months past deadline, the other is scheduled to finish next month and my optimism is … well, there isn’t much.)

I got to roll over a lot of miles this year and put a lot of faces, familiar and new, in the viewfinder. Let’s see how light unfolds on the next 365 days.

Seeking Comfort

Athens, Georgia

The college sets up the student forum with snacks and videos of puppies to help soothe our kids. I suspect the snacks are appreciated more than the puppies, but who knows.

By night, I sought some comfort with colleagues at the university’s holiday concert. A great performance by students, a nice way to step away for a while.

Fabric

The Mrs. is making dog kerchiefs for the local rescue again, the morning light made for a little texture.

Next stop was the doc’s office for the annual physical. (After telling me my labs looked great, she admitted she says that to a lot of folks who have no major issues.) Did have a moment where I wondered how good the staff was if this was their repair technique.

EVening brought a video chat with the father-in-law, a great way to end the day.

Made the back-way run to the post office, wandered past this old shop, closed and for sale once again. It’s on a main road, heading out of town, I often wonder how many folks have taken the keys and tried to execute a dream here.
