UGA Football, Round 2

I was able to put my ethical lapses behind me and get to the task at hand, Georgia taking on Central Michigan Saturday afternoon in Sanford Stadium.

“Behind” may be the right phrase, as I was behind the most spectacular play of the game, a third quarter leap by Georgia’s Knowshon Moreno. As soon as it happened, I knew I’d been beat. Just knew it. But the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s version is a little tight. And the Athens Banner-Herald’s is a little busy. But the student paper, the Red & Blackthey got it just right. Nice work, Daniel. (Who is a student of mine, but I take no responsibility for this work – he’s in the intro class and hasn’t done a real assignment for me yet.)

Oh, well. Next game.

The Macon Telegraph has a large gallery of my images up. (Watch the credits, as the latter ones are by one of their staffers, not me.) (And some of those were specific requests for players for future stories, not part of the game coverage.) The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer has a group up, as well

EDIT: I missed another version by Amanda Melton, who’s shooting for the university this semester. Anyone else out there who beat me on this play? I was raised Catholic, I can take it …

  1. I still love yours b/c it’s the only one that shows the defender grabbing at air! (ps, I don’t think you have an ethical issue w/ the lanyard, b/c you, unlike the ABH guy, are employed by UGA!)

  2. Wow… Thanks.

How much of a crop is that from your 400? That is amazingly sharp, wow. One day I will have one… one day…

I really like your photos from what I saw. They look 1000 times more professional than mine and reaffirm what I already knew… Even though I got “the moment” this game, I still have a ton to learn.

  3. Janet – On Saturday, I was not working for UGA, I was working for three, independent newspapers. That’s where the ethical issue comes up. Of course, one could argue my being employed by UGA should disqualify me from covering the game, too.

Daniel – I don’t think it was much of a crop, a little off either side.
